On June 2, 1953, I watched the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II on television at my grandmother's house next door. (We didn't have a television until the fall of that year).  I had been a fan of the royal family since an article about the "Little Princesses" had appeared in the Ladies Home Journal circa 1950.  I even wrote a term paper about Princess Elizabeth when I was in high school. 

It's hard to believe that she's been on the throne for sixty years.

And it's hard to believe it's been sixty years since I watched the coronation with my grandmother on her black and white television.
