Happy Pi Day

In honor of Pi Day, I am making two pies. One a Shepherd's pie to honor St. Patrick and one that my son Patrick likes.

Individual Shepherd's pies ready for the oven.
And I'm making a chocolate chess pie because it is one of our favorites.  Here's a recipe for the Angus Barn chocolate chess pie.
  • 1 unbaked pie crust
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 2 squares bakers chocolate (semi-sweet)
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 2 eggs (beaten)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • Dash of salt
1. Melt butter and chocolate, mix with other ingredients, which have been blended together.
2. Pour into a pie shell and bake 35 minutes (no longer) at 350 degrees.
3. Top with whipped cream (or not).

Chocolate chess pie from the Angus Barn, ready to eat.
Happy Pi Day (Pie Day) everyone.
