Stepping Back in Time: Hearthside Cooking.

 Saturday we went down to Westmoore Pottery where Cindy Kepley and Susan Ball were cooking foods in Westmoore's large fireplace using historical recipes from the 18th and early 19th centuries.  Cindy and Susan both work at Old Salem Museums and Gardens in Winston-Salem, NC.  Dishes such as Carolina snowballs, green "frogs", fruit pies, carrot fritters, poached pears and chicken pie were among the many dishes available for sampling.

 Mary and Dave Farrell are well known for making historical pottery and their pottery was used to demonstrate how various pottery pieces were used in the 18th and early 19th centuries.

A large crowd enjoyed sampling the food prepared.  Westmoore Pottery was well stocked with pottery for sale including their beautifully decorated plates.  The Shop was decorated for Thanksgiving with the main feature being Dave Farrell's pottery turkey.
