July Fourth Party at Louie and Cece's

When we were gadding about in Cleveland County over the Fourth of July weekend, we attended a party hosted by my niece and her husband, Cece and Louie at their lovely home on Chatfield Rd.  It was a great opportunity to visit with family and friends.

Sisters: Kelly and Cece.

And to have some delicious barbecue prepared by my brother-in-law, Hal.

Barbecue and other delicious food.

The children especially enjoyed the pool, and even the smallest ones were able to float around safely and some of the small ones were already jumping off the diving board.

What's a party without a game of cornhole?

Thank you Cece and Louie.  We had a marvelous time!

A Party for the Broughton Caps Boys' Basketball Team

The Boys' Basketball Team at Broughton High School made quite a run this year going all the way to the Dean Dome to play in the 4A High School State Championship.  They played a terrific game there---very close---and although Olympic of Charlotte won (56 to 53), these boys will always be champions to me.   To quote Michael Jordan, "They didn't lose they just ran out of time."

The parents gave the boys and coaches an end of season party last night and here are some of the photos.

Many of these boys are seniors and will be moving on to college, I wish them well in whatever their future holds.  And for those returning to the Team next year, I hope to see you at the Dean Dome.

Pretty Flowers for an Afternoon Party

We are enjoying a visit from friends that we met on the trip to Italy last fall.  Mary is from Raleigh, and actually lives a couple of miles from us.

Shelley and Jesse live in Newport News Virginia.

This afternoon we had a party here at the house in Cape Brerton and a number of our friends were here.   Mary and Shelley did a marvelous job arranging flowers for the occasion.  They mixed flowers they bought at Sobey's with some of the local wild flowers.  Shelley is also a terrific photographer.
Shelley the photographer.

I'm going to share some of the photographs with you.  Enjoy!!!
