Davis Street Halloween Party

"Spider Bread"

Davis and Dover Streets held our second Halloween pot luck party last night when neighbors gathered in the church parking lot.

The kids were decked out in all kinds of costumes.
The little fireman.

Neighborhood rock band.

Abby's eyelashes!!!

Who's your favorite team?
Cute little kitten.

Even the youngest were in costume.
Cute teddy bear.

Lots of good food.

Thank you Carolyn for organizing this.

Janie bringing food.
After supper, I hurried home and donned my "costume", The African Ghost, and got ready for all the trick or treaters.
African Ghost: A white sheet and an authentic African mask make for a scary costume.
A good time was had by all.

African Ghost aka Grandpat

African ghost aka Grandpat
Despite the rain, a number of the little ghouls and goblins in our neighborhood made it by for trick-or-treating.  I like to dress in my African ghost "costume" when I hand out the treats to the youngsters.  It's a simple costume.  I wrap a white sheet around me and hold the African death mask that Dan brought back from Africa years ago in front of my face and it's quite scary.  I didn't fool the kids though.  They knew it was Grandpat or Grace's grandmother.  A number of the neighborhood children are in school with Grace and Tyler, my grands.

Lily, Lilian, Emma & Reid.

Maddie & Mia
Bumblebee (Abby), Nicholas & friend.
Chef & Virginia football player.
Grace (on left) & her friend both dressed as Ki$ha.

Fun Halloween in the neighborhood.

My Grands on Halloweens Past

Brooks dressed as a pirate when he was six in 2003.

My two older grandchildren are too old to trick or treat so I'll post photos of them in their costumes in years past.  In 2003 Brooks dressed as a pirate and Zach dressed as a cowboy.

Zach dressed as a cowboy in 2003 when he was nine.
Perhaps the two younger ones will trick or treat this year, but in any case here they are in Halloweens past.

Tyler at Halloween in 2004 when he was five.

Grace as a UNC cheerleader when she was four in 2005.

I miss having the grands too old to Trick or Treat, but fortunately we have some new families in the neighborhood with small children, so we will be looking forward to them coming by tonight.
