Eye Candy at IKEA

I basically dislike shopping, but I must admit I do enjoy shopping at IKEA .  Yesterday, my friend Boguska and I spent the day in Charlotte shopping there.  I went specifically to find an area rug for our study, but I certainly enjoyed ambling through the store thinking how much fun it would be to be young again setting up housekeeping with pretty and reasonably priced goods from IKEA.

Rain: A Tribute to the Beatles at the DPAC

Last night I was taken back to the 60s and Beatlemania.  I have always been a Beatles fan and this touring band, Rain gives a convincing impersonation of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr and the music of the Beatles.  Yes, it was like being back in the 60s again at the DPAC in Durham.

As the DPAC Website  says " this adoring tribute takes one back to a time when all you needed was love and a little help from your friends!"

It certainly took me back.  I loved the 60s---especially the Beatles.

A Day in the Life Of.....

One of my favorite blogs that I follow is that of the The Clothes Horse.  Occasionally, Rebecca will have a post where she takes a photo each hour of her day A Picture an Hour.  That gave me an idea to do likewise.  I lugged my camera around the other day and took hourly photos to depict something about my day.

Bang for the Buck

This story in the NY Times, Bang for the Buck, the other day prompted me to go to a dollar store and see what I could get for a dollar.  I took a ten dollar bill (some dollar stores require cash only) and here are ten items I bought at Dollar Tree.  Each item cost a dollar.

Valentine doilies.

Valentine gift wrapping paper.

Valentine card for Dan.

Catnip for DoorMatt McCatty.

Masks for Mardi Gras party.

Beads for Mardi Gras party.

Chicken broth.

Minestrone soup.

Oyster crackers.

Crushed tomatoes, 28oz can.

 This is a lot of "bang" for ten bucks.  I think I'll visit the dollar stores again.

Goodberry's Frozen Custard

Before Goodberry's opened up in Cameron Village, I had to drive all the way out to North Raleigh or to Cary to get frozen custard.  Now it is so dangerously near that I can pop down anytime and have a Concrete as I did on Saturday.  Their custard has only four ingredients and does not have additives.

Four ingredients: cream, sugar, eggs, honey.

None of these ingredients in this frozen custard.

Each day vanilla and chocolate flavors plus the flavor of the day are available.

I'm especially fond of pistachio, maple almond, and hazelnut.  Of course their vanilla and chocolate are delicious too.One can get a cone or cup, milkshakes, sundaes or my favorite a Concrete. A Concrete involves mixing in various toppings with the flavor of your choice.

One of my favorite Concretes is vanilla custard, with caramel sauce and wet walnuts and that's what I had on Saturday.  Oh so good.
